What would you do if you found yourself with a night completely to yourself? No kids, no husband and no where you had to be?
I found myself in this situation last night and had no idea what to do with myself. I ALWAYS have at least one kid with me either at sports or at home. But last night I didn’t have to rush after work to pick up anyone or go anywhere because hubby was driving the kids to Ottawa so that the kids could spend a week with their grandparents. Hubby is driving back today.
I’ve known about this awesome evening to myself for a few weeks and have been weighing my options. Do I hang out with friends? Do I try and get a ticket to the Coldplay concert? Do I book an appointment to get my hair done? Do I go shopping? Clean the house? My options were pretty much endless.
So what did I decide to do?
Nothing, well mostly nothing. I wasn’t productive at all and it was great.
I came straight home after work, and was greeted by the cat who was happy to finally see someone home. I swear this cat is part dog.
I then surfed facebook for 30 minutes (with the cat lying on my lap), then got dressed for a run. I drove over to the conservation area and went for a trail run. I did the 4k loop, then because I still felt good and had nowhere else to be, I ran the loop in the opposite direction for a total of 8km. Afterwards I went through the McDonald’s drive-thru and bought a Asian Grilled Chicken Salad for dinner. When I got home I took a shower, put on PJ’s and cuddled up on the couch with my salad, a beer and the cat to watch “Icarus” on Netflix (a documentary about the Russian doping scandal). Afterwards I read a few chapters of the book “Older, Stronger, Faster” (great book btw), then went to bed. In other words, I had the perfect relaxing Janice night.
